Brief History of the Journal

Research into the healthcare of older Canadians expanded in the later part of the 20th Century. With this expansion came a need for a peer-reviewed journal aimed primarily at Canadian medical practitioners and in 1998, Mature Medicine Canada was born.

In 2005, the name of the Journal was changed to "Canadian Journal of Geriatrics". The following year, the journal was purchased by Geriatrics & Aging. In 2010 the CGS, under the leadership of David Hogan and Ken Madden began to publish the newly named Canadian Geriatrics Journal. The Journal remains committed to publishing original research on the health and care of older adults, particularly older Canadians.
