President's Message
Welcome to the second issue of the CGS Newsletter. Traditionally December is a time for reflections, and we are pleased to report to you that 2011 has been a fruitful year for the CGS. We had a successful annual scientific meeting in April that recorded the highest attendance in the Society’s history, our members continue to grow in numbers, and we are on track in the implementation of the various priority initiatives for our Society such as the development of National Geriatrics Interest Group (NGIG) for medical students and Resident Geriatric Interest Group (RGIG) for resident physicians, launching of our quarterly Newsletter, consolidation of the Canadian Geriatrics Journal, and introduction of the brand new Canadian Geriatrics Society CME Journal. We hope you will enjoy reading more about these and other initiatives that are highlighted in this issue of the Newsletter.
We welcome your feedback at any time. Please feel free to contact us at secretariat@canadiangeriatrics.ca or 1-866-CGS-0086.
Thank you for your continued support of the CGS. Have a wonderful December and happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Roger Y.M. Wong, BMSc, MD, FRCPC, FACP
President, Canadian Geriatrics Society
