Annual Meeting News

The 2010 annual Conference was a great success! This diverse program included sessions focused on updates on common clinical issues in Geriatrics, program and educational development, presentations by both upcoming and seasoned researchers, and multiple opportunities for networking. One of the highlights, among many that have been mentioned to us, was a lunch time session featuring Dr. Conrad Rusnak, and Shirley Roberts and Chris Wynn, two caregivers who are also gifted communicators. Between the three of them, they gave a moving presentation on care giving in dementia, which served to remind us again why we do what we do. The “Top 20 Articles of the Year” by Dr. Ken Madden was also very popular.

As the face of Canadian aging changes to include many more elderly from other cultures, it is vital that we familiarize ourselves with expectations and ways of thinking outside our own.

Thankfully, the word spread across the world (from 12 countries over 4 continents) and we almost doubled attendance from previous years!

We look forward to seeing you all next year in Quebec City. There is still so much more to talk about.
